Looking back
Looking back on my journey through Nursing Informatics I am proud to say I’ve learnt a lot. Although we were off to a late start all the assignments that were given helped the learning process run smoothly. To be honest it took me a long time to adjust to the use of Elearn which was the platform we used to get work done.
With patience and perseverance, I was able to move forward and get it done. I also learned the power of teamwork. I am a person who usually prefers working by myself, I believe working by myself, the grades and the quality of work would be entirely my problem. Thankfully I got to experience the benefits of teamwork during this course. I learned that a team must have a coordinator, a time manager and people who are willing to work.
There is one scripture that got me through this entire course and it was

The following are some assignments that I did for the past 3 months:
Discussion Question #1 “ A client arrives in the emergency department with shortness of breath and complaining of chest pain. Describe THREE ways how informatics can help nurses and other health care providers to more efficiently and effectively care for this client.” To answer this question I used three major benefits of Informatics and they were by improving documentation, reducing medical errors and improving coordination of care. |
Lab #1 - Powerpoint Lab “You have a number of clients that struggle with managing lifestyle diseases like diabetes, hypertension and coronary heart disease. Prepare a 10-12 slide PowerPoint presentation to be used to educate your clients with any one of the stated challenges about the importance of either diet or exercise to manage their condition.” I decided to focus my PowerPoint on diabetes. Lab #3 - Excel Lab “You assist the manager of a local pharmacy, Central General Pharmacy. Because you learned how to use Excel, you decide to use a workbook to calculate on-hand inventory values for products.” “As the head of the multicultural task force at your hospital, you are leading a campaign to keep fellow staff members informed of the different languages spoken by patients.” You can retrieve my spreadsheet from : https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1-Z41BQXqz14vkT4W61W5bOlZoOdIdPWalegimavuNUE/edit?usp=drivesdk
